"Miss Elisa" Elisa KaplanMiss Elisa grew up in MA, and studied dance and performed at various studios and colleges. Elisa has a BA in Art from the University of MA Amherst, studied dance at University of MA, Amherst and Eastern New Mexico University, and studied Early Childhood Education at Middlesex Community College Lowell/Bedford, MA. After college, she continued studying dance at the Jeannette Neill Dance Studio in Boston and dance workshops/conventions- Shock, Legacy, DanceAmerica, and the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston. Elisa has trained with Master teachers: Brenda Buffalino(tap), Julia Boynton(tap), and Mia Michaels(jazz).
Elisa has been thoroughly enjoying teaching dance for over 30 years. Elisa is passionate about creating an emotionally safe space for children with ASD, SPD, as well as neurotypical children, to thrive. Her classroom goals are to pass along the love of movement, tell stories through movement and expression, and a respect for dedication to hard work and perfecting technique, taught in a nurturing, encouraging and creative environment that fosters self-esteem, tolerance, kindness, and friendship. Elisa owned dance studio, DanceTime, in Bedford, MA, for 16 years (1997-2013). At DanceTime Elisa taught ages 3 years-adult and led the award winning Starette Dance Company in competition, and at community and senior residence performances. At DanceTime Elisa was well known for her child-friendly, creative classes and camps. Elisa and her family relocated to central Florida in 2011. While enjoying homeschooling and the new central Florida activities and weather, she and her three daughters found they were all missing dance- the creative, fun, encouraging, nurturing way we do it.... and Arts with Heart was born! |
